- 1. Generate a Certificate Signing Request (CSR)
Before you can begin the StarPAY SSL Certificate purchase process, you must
generate a Certificate Signing Request (CSR). The CSR contains information identifying
the website that you wish to apply the SSL Certificate to, and the public key for
the certificate. This request is then sent onto a Certificate Authority (such as
GeoTrust or RapidSSL) who then sign it with their own private key, and return a
valid SSL Certificate for you to install on your Web Server.
If you have direct access to the web server hosting your site, you can generate
the CSR yourself, by following the relevant CSR
Instructions, but, if not, you may need to contact your hosting company
and have them generate this for you.
- 2. Approver Email Address (IMPORTANT)
In order to successfully complete your SSL application, you will need to be able
to receive an "approver" email, which contains a link which will take you to a web
page to actually approve the certificate to be issued. The email address that this
will be sent to is restricted to certain addresses at the domain you are purchasing
the certificate for, or the email address that is associated with the domain registrant.
The email addresses that are allowed to be used for the Approver email are: admin@domain.com,
ssladmin@domain.com, administrator@domain.com, sysadmin@domain.com,
hostmaster@domain.com, webmaster@domain.com, or root@domain.com.
(Where domain.com is the domain you are applying for the SSL Certificate
for e.g. eway.com.au, google.com, etc)
Please ensure that one of the above email addresses are enabled, and that you have
access to it at the time of applying for your SSL Certificate.
- 3. Purchase your SSL Certificate
Once you have generated the CSR for your website, and you have an appropriate approver
email address enabled, you are ready to begin the StarPAY SSL Certificate
purchase process. Be sure to have the CSR you have generated at hand before beginng
the process, as you will need it to complete the application.
- 4. Install your SSL Certificate
When you have completed your SSL Application, and you have approved the Certificate
you will receive an email with the actual certificate included. As with the CSR,
if you have direct access to you web server, you should be able to install it yourself
by following the appropriate Installation
Instructions for your web server. However, if you do not have direct access,
you may require assistance from your hosting company to complete this step.
